Timeless Summer Wedding Day in Toronto's Distillery District

A bride and groom dance under the lights at their wedding reception at Toronto's Archeo event space.

While working at Canada’s Wonderland one summer, Ariel heard about a new guy who had just started working there. She thought she’d better meet ‘THE Jaime’ her friends were talking about ;) They instantly hit it off and as with many friendships, it was the beginning of a beautiful love story. Eleven years later nearly to the day, we photographed their beautiful wedding celebration with their closest friends and family who travelled from all over to be with these two love birds.

As with many couples during COVID, their wedding plans were delayed. Having Jaime’s family from Colombia present was incredibly important to them; therefore, they chose to postpone their wedding a year. During that year, they had more unexpected changes to their plans! Due to logistics, they chose to move their celebrations from Niagara-on-the-Lake to downtown Toronto. They chose a wedding venue in an area that had a lot of meaning to them: The Distillery District! Jaime proposed to Ariel there so it felt full circle to make things official in the exact spot where it all began.

With a new venue in a new city, they went to work to make it their dream wedding day. Ariel chose to get ready with her bridesmaids at the stunning natural light LOVT Studio in Toronto’s Liberty Village. A very special moment that really stood out was Ariel’s first look with her bridesmaids. Their genuine surprise, happiness and joy for their friend was super heartwarming. The photos above prove it :)

Jaime met Ariel at Osgoode Hall for their first look which was one for the books! We loved his reaction to seeing his bride for the first time! These are literally what we live for on a wedding day; completely unrehearsed and genuinely candid moments which usually end up being some of our favourite images from a couple’s wedding day. After their emotional first look, we had so much fun with their wedding party, photographing them against the impressive backdrop of Osgoode Hall’s historical buildings.

Ariel and Jaime were then whisked away in their vintage Rolls Royce to head to their wedding ceremony at one of the Distillery District’s beautiful event spaces, Archeo. Inspired by the rustic history of the Distillery, Ariel and Jaime kept their decor and floral design very neutral; a mix of whites, creams and soft blush tones. After a very heartfelt ceremony it was time to get the party started! Their hora kicked off the festivities and it just get better from there :) Jaime and Ariel danced a salsa for their first dance which got EVERYONE on their feet by the end of the dance, because how can you sit still when there is happy salsa music playing?!?!

Despite all the changes and postponements, we can’t think of how Ariel and Jaime’s day could’ve been any more perfect :) We can’t wait to see where life takes this powerhouse couple!!!
