A Fall Day Engagement Session in Niagara-on-the-Lake

- Tamara and Jonathan

It’s a lot of fun for us to relive engagement sessions as we put together a blog post; it reminds us of the laughter, love and connection. Tamara and Jonathan were blissfully happy and so excited to have their engagement documented . Being that they live in Toronto we spoke about several options for locations. Although we are always happy to make suggestions, it is always that much more special when it’s somewhere the bride and groom-to-be love. After talking about different locations in and around Toronto, they decided that they loved Niagara and would love to have their session in the historical Niagara-on-the-Lake! Just about then the leaves had fully changed colour which made it even more picturesque. With the busyness of wedding planning and work they decided the best decision would be is to wait until out-of-province family arrived for the wedding to take advantage of a day trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake. While their family wine tasted and toured the town, Tamara and Jonathan slipped away for their photographs! With only weeks to go until their wedding, you would think that planning would have been getting to them. Not at all!!! They were so calm, incredibly in love and ready to spend an afternoon documenting their story.

We began in the lovely Queen’s Royal Park which is right on Lake Ontario. The fall colours and the lake’s lovely white space made for the perfect beginning of the afternoon. Just as we were arriving to our second location, the sun decided to quick peek through the clouds which is always makes for the best ‘golden hour’ light. The beautiful open space of Butler’s Barracks was perfect to catch the last few rays of sun (here in Ontario you’ve got to take advantage of every little ray of light in late fall, right?!?!). The afternoon naturally finished at the amazing Two Sister’s Vineyards because who comes to Niagara-on-the-Lake without sampling some of the best it has to offer?!?! :))

With family and friends arriving from all over North America, these two were ready for their Toronto wedding celebrations to begin! We couldn’t wait to be with them again in a few short weeks to share in their joy. More of this bride and groom to come on the blog soon! xoxo

Junilo and I were contacted by Geraldine and André in September 2017 in regards to their 2019 Toronto wedding.  The more we got to know each other over email, the more we realized how much the four of us had in common!!  They were fellow Torontonians who, just like us, had the unforgettable opportunity to live in Europe.  As in the case of Junilo, André followed 'his girl' abroad after Geraldine was accepted to study her Masters of Architecture in London, UK.  In addition to their wedding photography, they were really interested in having engagement photos done as well; however, due to the distance they thought that the only way to arrange things was to book a wedding photographer for their Toronto wedding and have a local photographer document their UK story in some of their favourite spots in London.  Coincidentally, Junilo and I were in the midst of booking a work trip to Spain for just around the end of the school year which was exactly when Geraldine thought they would like to book their engagement session! After working out the details of timing and logistics we agreed we would incorporate a quick stop in London on our way home from Spain.

Most would agree that it is quite easy to have an affinity for Europe; its culture, way of life, history and architecture make it incredibly easy to love.  For Junilo and I, Europe holds special meaning to us as it was our home for eight years.  Our photography style and inspiration is often drawn from our experience and years living there.

A Winter Engagement Session in Toronto’s Eclectic Kensington Market

- Sydney and Aaron

Engagement season is in full swing and we are full of love for all our 2018 couples!

Engagement sessions are very special for us; it's a chance to get to know our brides and grooms better and have the time for all of us to connect before the big day.  Sometimes brides-and-grooms-to-be confess a very real feeling; they are scared of being in front of a camera.  We totally understand!  It isn't always easy to be in front of the lens; exposing our insecurities and our apprehensions of being photographed.

That's why Junilo and I focus so much on making couples comfortable.  An engagement session should be an opportunity for the bride and groom-to-be to spend time together; focusing on their love and relationship.  The most natural photographs come from unplanned touches, looks and smiles.  Very often by the end of the session, our couples are so comfortable that they start suggesting ideas for poses and photographs they'd like us to document!

Sydney and Aaron asked us to do their session in a neighbourhood of Toronto that meant a lot to both of them.  Kensington Market is where they had their first date and where Aaron got down on one knee to ask Sydney to marry him.  As Kensington is a special place for Junilo and I too, we were super happy!  The weather forecast wasn't the greatest for the day; one of the lovely winter snow storms we've been getting this year was to hit Toronto.  We suggested that we begin in the incredible Fika Café right on Kensington Ave and continue through the streets of the market.  We finished with a few very wintery photos at Ontario Place, right on Lake Ontario.

We are looking forward to this incredibly gracious couple's wedding spring 2018!
